Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies

The ultimate chocolate chip cookie recipe is finally here!

I love mine packed with chocolate and garnished with salt flakes but you can add any toppings you want for these cookies, whether that be chopped chocolate bars, nuts, sprinkles or even chopped up oreos, the flavour possibilities are endless.

Ingredients:

120g butter, soft and at room temperature

140g caster sugar

120g brown sugar

1 egg, room temperature

230g all purpose flour

2g salt

3g baking soda

20m vanilla

150g of either chocolate chips or chopped chocolate of your choice

Salt flakes to garnish (optional)

Method:

- Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius and line two baking trays with parchment paper.

- In a large bowl, combine both sugars and butter. Using a hand mixer (or a stand mixer) gently beat for 3-5 minutes, until well combined and it is light and fluffy.

- Stir in vanilla and egg until well combined.

- Sift in salt, baking soda and flour and gently fold in the flour until all dry ingredients are combined

- mix in your chocolate chips or any fillings that you desire and cover the bowl in cling film and chill for 1-2 hours until firm.

- Remove from the fridge and scoop out 1-2 teaspoons of the dough. Roll the dough into a rough ball and place on a baking tray. press slightly with your fingers or the back of a spoon to flatten slightly.

- This is an optional step, top with some extra chocolate chips or chopped chocolate and garnish with a sprinkle of salt flakes. I find the salt flakes cuts some of the sweetness of the chocolate and adds that lovely "sweet and salty" flavour.

- Place your cookies into the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, depending on your oven. When the eggs just begin to brown you will know that they are done and you can remove them from the oven to cool.

- Allow to cool on the baking tray for 1-2 minutes until firm before removing to cool completely on a cooling rack.
